Skin Tags Removal: Fast, Safe, and Cosmetic

Skin tags (also known as acrochordons or cutaneous papilloma) are very common, small, benign growths attached to the underlying skin by a thin stalk. They are typically formed by a layer of fiber, blood vessels, and collagen wrapped in a thin layer of epidermis, and usually appear brownish or flesh-toned.

While skin tags are harmless and do not require removal for medical necessity, many individuals choose to have them removed for aesthetic reasons or when they cause discomfort, irritation, or bleeding due to friction. At Dr. Kumar Skin & Laser Clinic, Jamshedpur, we offer safe and effective minor surgical procedures to completely remove skin tags.

Causes & Risk Factors

The primary cause is friction—where skin rubs against itself (skin folds) or against clothing. Risk factors include: * Overweight people (excess skin folds) * Pregnant women (due to hormone elevations) * Type 2 Diabetes * Aging (generally occurring after midlife) * HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) susceptibility.

Common Locations

  • They are especially prone to developing in areas of skin folds or friction, such as the eyelids, neck, armpits, groin, or underneath the breasts

Growth Cycle

They start as small bumps and grow larger with repeated friction. Some may fall off painlessly over time, while others grow until they may burst.

Skin Tag Removal Options

Cauterization / Electrosurgery

The skin tag is burned off using heat or radio-frequency energy (Electrosurgery).

Snip Excision

The skin tag is quickly “snipped” off at its base using sterile surgical scissors or a scalpel.

Cryotherapy (Freezing)

Liquid nitrogen is used to freeze the skin tag, causing it to fall off after a period of a few days.
