Mole Removal: Safe Assessment and Aesthetic Excision

Moles are common, pigmented skin growths that can be round, oval, flat, or raised, and typically range in color from brown to dark blue or black. While most moles are benign, monitoring changes is crucial as certain characteristics can signal a potential risk of skin cancer (melanoma).

At Dr. Kumar Skin & Laser Clinic, Jamshedpur, we offer specialized care for mole concerns, combining expert dermatological evaluation with effective, aesthetically-focused removal techniques for both cosmetic reasons and atypical/suspicious growths.

What Causes Moles?

Moles develop due to a combination of genetic factors (running in families) and environmental factors, primarily increased time spent in the sun since childhood.

Hormonal Changes

  • Moles can also appear or change due to hormonal fluctuations, commonly during adolescence, pregnancy, menopause, or when taking the contraceptive pill.

Symptoms to Watch For

Consult a dermatologist if you observe: Growth of an existing mole, a ragged/uneven edge, varying shades of color, bleeding/oozing/crusting, or a mole that is painful or itches.

Mole Removal Treatment Options

Electrosurgery

Uses radio-frequency instruments to burn the moles away. It is Dr. Kumar’s preferred method due to its better precision and control, and it is generally more affordable.

CO2 Laser Surgery

Removes moles with high-powered laser beams, essentially vaporizing them.

Surgical Excision

A definitive surgical procedure where the mole is cut out with a margin, and the site is stitched closed.

Laboratory Analysis (Biopsy)

Suspicious moles removed via surgical excision are sent to the lab to check for malignancy (cancer cells).
