Keloids

Keloid Treatment: Flattening Raised Scars & Preventing Recurrence

Keloids are characterized as overgrown, firm, and often itchy or painful scar tissues that extend beyond the boundaries of the original injury site. They develop due to excessive collagen production during the healing process. At Dr. Kumar Skin & Laser Clinic, Jamshedpur, we offer safe and scientifically proven Keloid Treatment combining medical, injectable, and laser therapies to flatten the scars, reduce discomfort, and significantly minimize the risk of recurrence.

What Are Keloids?

Keloids are overgrown scar tissues that develop due to excessive collagen production after a wound heals. Unlike regular scars, keloids extend beyond the original injury site and can grow with time. They often appear after:

  • Acne or skin injuries
  • Ear or body piercings
  • Surgery or burns
  • Vaccinations or insect bites

Keloids are often firm, raised, itchy, or even painful — and can impact both appearance and comfort.

Common Causes of Keloids

  • Skin Trauma – Cuts, surgeries, burns, or acne
  • Piercings or Tattoos – Especially on the chest, shoulders, or earlobes
  • Genetics – Family history of keloid formation
  • Inflammatory Skin Issues – Like folliculitis or cystic acne
  • Darker Skin Types – More frequent in Fitzpatrick types IV to VI

Types of Keloids We Treat

  • Post-Surgical Keloids
After C-sections, orthopedic surgeries, or injury stitches
  • Acne-Related Keloids
Often on the chest, upper back, and jawline
  • Piercing-Related Keloids

  • Burn-Induced Keloids
Due to thermal, chemical, or accidental burns
